Attempts to cut meeting time fail because nobody separates what a meeting is made of. Status updates, fact checks, and "here is what I found out" do not require everyone in the same room at the same time. But when information lives in people's heads, the only way to get it out is to gather and say it out loud. Meetings run long because the meeting is the only place the information has.
Put updates and confirmations in a thread
